How to Brew the Perfect Cup at Home

How to Brew the Perfect Cup at Home

Simple methods to bring out the best in Garmann Coffee Co.

There’s something sacred about the first cup of coffee. It’s not just about caffeine — it’s about rhythm, ritual, and setting the tone for your day. At Garmann Coffee Co., we believe that brewing coffee should be simple, meaningful, and delicious — no fancy equipment required.

Whether you’re enjoying Sunrise on the Farm or winding down with Still Waters, here are a few of our favorite ways to brew the perfect cup right from home.

Drip Coffee Maker

Best for: Sunrise on the Farm, Homestead

This is the everyday go-to for most households — and with the right ratio, it can produce a beautifully balanced brew.

How to brew:

  • Use 2 tbsp of coffee for every 6 oz of water
  • Brew on a medium grind setting
  • Make sure your equipment is clean (oils build up over time!)
  • Enjoy it black to catch the full flavor profile — or add cream if that’s your rhythm

📝 Tip: Use filtered water for a cleaner taste.

🌊 Pour-Over (Hario V60 or Chemex)

Best for: Sunrise on the Farm, The Ezra

Pour-over brewing gives you more control and brings out subtle flavor notes, like citrus, berry, and floral.

How to brew:

  • Use a 1:16 ratio (e.g., 25g coffee to 400g water)
  • Medium-fine grind
  • Bloom the grounds with hot water for 30–45 seconds
  • Pour in slow, circular motions over 2–3 minutes

📝 Tip: Pour-over shines with our single-origin Ezra line — bring out those complex tasting notes!

🪵 French Press

Best for: Homestead, Selah, Still Waters

The French press is bold, simple, and great for extracting full-bodied flavor — perfect for our darker blends.

How to brew:

  • Use 1:15 ratio (e.g., 30g coffee to 450g water)
  • Coarse grind
  • Steep for 4 minutes, then slowly press
  • Serve immediately

📝 Tip: Let it cool for a moment before sipping — Selah really opens up at a lower temp.

❄️ Cold Brew

Best for: Homestead, The Ezra (single origin)

Cold brew is smooth, mellow, and perfect for hot Texas days or easy morning prep.

How to brew:

  • Coarse grind
  • Use a 1:8 ratio (1 cup coffee to 8 cups water)
  • Steep in cold water for 12–18 hours
  • Strain and store in the fridge for up to a week

📝 Tip: Try it with oat milk and a splash of vanilla — it’s incredible.
